@TomFulp ah i understand now. thanks.
@DioShiba @Dieswyx I can understand not wanting to make a mistake, and have a stance that would be wrong in hindsight. But we have already passed the goalposts of poor forum and submission moderation. Your insistence to "not take a side" only makes it easier for poor moderation to continue. That's just how it is. :(
@JoeSomebody2 @Dieswyx except again, no one has been willing, besides Kittyhawk so far willing to document what happened.
I'm all for accountability but so far as it stands there isn't enough evidence of consistent behavior on Turkey's (or any other moderator's part for that matter) to say that this is more than a one off situation.
Thats putting aside how exaggerated its to say that Newgrounds is at the same level of the Government hindering free speech, which last time I checked Newgrounds is not that and free speech is a two way street. Why do you think I brought up that Cntrl Alt Delete comic to begine with besides this weird idea that it's appropriated?
i believe this constitutes as a tasteful nude https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/vivusodrum/dr-shmuck-beach-episode
Don't get deleted! ;)
@TomFulp @CrimsonKero I wish this was a forum thread so it could be clear what i'm replying to individually, but there's a lot to unpack here in regards to false assertions.
Newgrounds promoting a community member project/contest isn't an official endorsement. they don't have to do that and it doesnt condone blanket permission for other behaviors across the site. it's Tom being non-partial and so "you're just gonna throw her to the curb like that?" feels pretty bad faith.
The tools are imperfect because they aren't a priority. Why aren't they a priority? money and development time. The staff is limited and the site is bleeding money, they can't hire new staff to work on more projects than are currently being worked on. It's not a massive corporation which isn't to forgive faulty features but rather to say the forums have never been a priority on the web development end. Better BBS mod tools or multi-image and multi-author art posts making the contests you mentioned even possible. I'll take the latter :/
Really? That's crazy
cool. anyway i'm really fucking stoked for that new superman movie do u guys fw it too
@TomFulp In this episode, thomas charlie fulp saved the day again. See you in the next episode of Newgrounds dot com.
@midgetsausage I fw it 100%
I don't understand, why would anyone, let alone on newgrounds of all places, do this?
@CappyCatII we'll never know
@JoeSomebody2 Can you explain the "wtf" reactions?
@Simoes1000 It's frustrating to see people joking around or dismissing bad behavior. Not you in particular, but it's the general reaction I've seen to this so far. I get the desire to seek "normalcy" and wanting to feel safe, as if nothing is wrong. But that impulse is just going to invite more abuse. :(
@JoeSomebody2 Now I undestarnd you better and it's okay.
every time joe somebody makes a huh reaction to a post I imagine hes making a banjo-kazooie GUH? sound.
"My friend had a post deleted in a forum once. Now let me tell you about the WW2 concentration camps."
@DioShiba @CrimsonKero How chronically online do you have to be to compare mods taking down artwork they deemed inappropriate to one of the biggest events in American LGBT history? Also, you don't seem to be fully educated on the event either since, yes, the bar was run by mobsters, however, the riot was started by the LGBT participants with zero influence from the mob. Those people were living in an era where they could have their jobs taken away for being gay and could be arrested if the police had any suspicion of them being "homophiles". The riots were them finally standing up against their oppressors for decades of being abused by the justice system.
And what happened here? Did the mods threaten to arrest you for drawing art and being LGBT? Did the mods threaten to ruin your career over this? Did the mods threaten to kill you in broad daylight for what you drew?
No?
Then why are you comparing this to Stonewall?
As one trans person to the next, you should feel absolutely ashamed of yourself.
@Schwanemann honestly, thank you.
I pointed this out in the competition collab Kittyhawk posted om the forums but I am glad that between you and a few other users are calling out how innapropriate it is to compare this whole drama to a real life event that had an impact on grounds that it diminishes the exact reason and values to why people rioted at stonewall then, but you elaborated it in a way I could not.
You're a real one.
Would it kill to have transparency on the so-called crimes we’re committing? Does the moderation team really expect us to accept no answer and just take it as that, just because they weren’t in the mood to explain why?
I dunno, this site’s cracks are showing. Maybe they were there the whole time. I’ve no clue because we got a moderator actively silencing folks and manipulating the truth.
Can’t say I’m too keen on that.

@TomFulp the way i see it is that NG is privately owned, the policies that exist are really cool and usually very progressive and all about preserving freedom of expression. sometimes we conflate that based mentality with some sort of requirement that newgrounds HAS to legally be that way or something. In the end the decision is yours and we're thankful you give us this playground to hang out in and post our art and discuss.
I think this duo is known to derail threads and we often disagree, but @KittyhawkMontrose and @alsoknownas1 i see you and i want to make it VERY CLEAR that I do think if a mod locks a thread it should ALWAYS be the last post in the thread dictating the reason it was closed with respects to full transparency and courtesy. I know it can be extra work, but this is a system of trust and respect on a privately owned platform and you guys deserve to be told when/why moderation took place in these instances.
DO NOT HARASS TOM. Man's just trying to have a good trip to Boston while their site that's manually moderated by actual humans we can reach out to is running without them. I've never had an issue that Tom hasn't been willing to have a dialogue with me about since I made my account in 2015 and so Tom saying you guys never reached out to him before making these "callout posts" tracks for me.
