CrimsonKero's News

Posted by CrimsonKero - February 1st, 2021

It's been 31 days since Adobe officially pulled the plug on Flash, Surely, you'd be parched by now, right?

WRONG!

The waters are going to be rougher than ever, thanks to this year's Flash Flood!

In case you don't know, the Flash Flood is an annual event from the Clock Crew where participants create 1 animation every day for the entire month of February.

Due to time constraints, the animation quality usually doesn't hold up against everything else on Newgrounds, but I've seen some really good stuff come out of them anyways.

I'll be kicking off the event with Frog Flood, a hybrid between standalone Flashes and an ongoing story. I will use traditional Flash movies emulated in Ruffle, though this episode uses my classic format.

What am I doing in the Clock Crew? No one knows.

ThorClock also debuted a new series, ThorClock Breaks Free. It's very similar to the ThorClock Takes Over series he did for last year's Flood, which was turned into a standalone movie on Clock Day.

RadioTubeClock just put out an amazing lead-in for the Flood.

RedbookClock released a video where OctopusClock plays the once popular Fall Guys.

Meanwhile, PannacottaClock shows off his 'house'

D-Va Clock released 'The Clockgoliers', a great story about some missing plane passengers.

The Blamming Issue:

We initially released our entries not knowing that we were going to get wrongfully blammed really quickly, which almost halted the Flash Flood. Only RadioTube survived, albeit with a really low score. We suspected that the issue was caused by spam bots targeting us based off certain keywords, so we resubmitted without those keywords, which got us more acceptable scores.

From now on, to ensure your movie survives, leave the words 'clock' and 'crew' out of your title, tags, and description until after it passes judgement.

Meanwhile, DeodorantClock created a movie based off these events:

Hi. Another project update for the month of January.

Grubhub Assassin

I just released Grubhub Assassin as a Flash game. It works 99% fine with Ruffle, only the medals don't work. Use the Newgrounds Player for those.

It's similar to the Assassin games on Newgrounds that people made back in the day, so I'm mixing the old with the new.

https://www.newgrounds.com/collection/assassin

The game is a bit short, with only six ways to kill the character, but I wanted to get this out as quick as possible.

Half-In

I have released the album on Bandcamp, complete with some tracks that haven't been heard on Newgrounds.

It's free to download.

Frog Flood

With both my projects for January out of the way. I can now focus on making movies for the Flash Flood.

What's the Flash Flood?

The Flash Flood is an annual event started by the Clock Crew in 2010, where every day on February, participants aim to post one movie every day. After going dormant in 2014, it was brought back last year.

Fast-forward to 2021, the year Flash is officially at its end-of-life, making it harder to access, with Ruffle working its way up to become a better alternative, This makes 2021 the perfect opportunity for another Flash Flood.

I've decided to honor this tradition with Frog Flood, a new series where I post pretty much anything remotely funny, whether it's Anonymous Frog shorts, clock movies, collab entries, and other special goodies. Every episode will be released around 8 AM EST, though if I miss that date, I'll upload later in the day.

That's all I have in this news post. Don't forget to follow me, vote 5 and comment on my flies.

To celebrate Pixel Day, I made a Spot the Difference artwork based off the Clock Crew. There's 12 differences to be found.

Happy Pixel Day!

Hi. I'm announcing a new game that's coming out in a few weeks called Grubhub Assassin. It's a lot like the Assassin games from back in the day, (below) this time you're killing the characters from the controversial Grubhub ad.

Yes it's in Flash, yes it's past its end of life, but what matters is that these guys die!

Hi. Quick update on all the upcoming projects I haven't been working on right now.

Production Tools: OpenShot to Flash

I've switched video production from Paint+OpenShot (my original tools) to the outdated and unsupported Flash 8. It's easier for me to work with and it allows me to do a lot more, even if less people will be able to access it.

There will be video versions, but they're only in 720p. Flash can scale to infinity, so watch those for the best quality.

Can't? Follow this solution to unlock the deactivated EOL Flash plugin that the Newgrounds Player relies on

If you like this change, please let me know.

Season 1 Remake

Not really a priority for me, so that's put on hold. If I do come back to it, it'll be a Flash movie.

Anonymous Frog Game

Development hasn't picked up much on this. I'm thinking of switching to HaxeFlixel, the software used to make Friday Night Funkin', but my antivirus and Windows Defender both block me from installing it. If anyone has a solution, please let me know.

Frog Flood

A series of daily uploads, ranging from 5 to 30 seconds, covering the span of an entire month. Content will vary, though it's mostly Clock movies, collab entries, and crap I've rushed together in a few hours.

None of it will end up in Anonymous Frog canon.

Anonymous Frog: Frog Institute

Production will pick up as soon as I've finished with the Frog Flood.

Hi. This newspost will talk about my contributions to collabs.

Recently, I've made an entry for the Handsome Squidward Reanimated Collab, or The Two Faces of Squidward Collab, or whatever else you call it. It will show up on my side account @AnonymousFrogClock, instead of my main account.

And some other news. all your copies of Flash have now been deactivated by Adobe, which means I might have to do some experimenting with it for some workarounds.

I'd also like to thank you for 40 subscribers on YouTube, and to whoever gave me the supporter rank today.

Hi, I am the anonymous frog. And today, I announce a new spinoff Anonymous Frog series, separate from the old one.

Anonymous Frog: Frog Institute

Where does the new series take place?

Frog Institute will take place in 1995, where the Anonymous Frog studies abroad in the Angelberg Educational Institute, a college in New York. The series will have plenty of old characters return, as well as some new ones.

Obviously, characters born after 1995 will not appear, such as Dream and Dr. Moles.

When's this new series coming out?

It's going to be a lot of work, so probably not in 2021. I'm also considering finishing all the episodes and schedule a premiere for all episodes.

How long are the episodes and how many of them?

I'll try to aim for longer than 10 minutes per episode. I plan to have two connected plots per episode instead of one.

I'd also like to have between 7 and 10 episodes per season.

Who are the new characters?

I have created bio cards with seven main and supporting characters who will appear in the series, with more coming soon as I further work on the series.

Here is a list of all the cards.

https://www.newgrounds.com/playlists/view/b9dc88210ea6ff8ec8c6c44e0f73d7a5

What's it going to look like?

Roughly the same as the regular series. I have switched to Flash for animation. The bio card are drawn in MS Paint using the classic look (albeit redone to match their age), but

I will still rely on motion tweens in order to match the style of the classic series, though there will be some frame-by-frame animation for certain effects.

I haven't started production yet, so a lot of this is subject to change.

Are you looking forward for this new series?

Hi. I'm still a bit bitter from getting blammed. To calm myself down, I have decided to take a break from Newgrounds and instead.

The blammed movie (a Clock Crew flash) can still be viewed here, though you cannot vote five or write a review on it.

If your goal was to cancel Anonymous Frog, you've done it, I'm cancelled. If not, I might return later.

Goodbye, and make sure to subscribe and comment on my flies in case I return.

EDIT: Thanks for 40 fans on Newgrounds.
