Animation Polish: 15 / 20: I love the use of outlines on the characters, makes them look stylized compared to the other 3D assets. Though the smoke effects look somewhat video-gamey with clipping.

Writing / Story / Narrative: 17 / 20: What starts out as an archeological discovery of "Sand Mart" eventually turns into a shoplifting blown out of proportion, a whole new world populated by mummies and sand.

Entertainment / Humor: 20 / 20: Absolutely absurd.

Sound: 18 / 20: Awesome voice acting. And that autotuned Sand-Mart song at the end.

Pacing / Runtime: 19 / 20. The main film is ~5 minutes, then it ends with a musical bumping up to 6 min 37 seconds. It's a blast all the way through.

TOTAL SCORE: 89 / 100
This was so stupid and cheesy (sandy) and I loved it. And I think there's potential for future sand-toons with similar levels of absurdity.

Animation Polish: 19 / 20: LOVE the gritty aesthetic, and the art style.

Writing / Story / Narrative: 19 / 20:
The story follows inhabitiants of Hell, one who's just died and is supposedly innocent, and another who's been there for decades and has decayed to a skeleton, due to how Hell works (I didn't quite get their names, but I will note that one died approximately in or just before 1933, and one in 1870).
I enjoyed the first half more, but in the second half, I did get to learn more about Hell, the characters, and why 1933 got sent there in the first place (though it's still a bit vague).

Mild anachronism regarding when each protagonist dies (1933 once assumed 1870 died in 1960), but it looks like time works differently in Hell.

Entertainment / Humor: 18 / 20: There were a bunch of funny moments, such as 1933 pointing out he might not be skinny enough to fit through 1870's hideout.

Sound: 20 / 20: 1933's ending song being notable for this score, but the hellish atmosphere doesn't need much aside from silence to be unsettling.

Pacing / Runtime: 19 / 20: There's a lot of stuff that could've been shorter, especially the first minute, but otherwise it's very VERY ambitious.

TOTAL SCORE: 95 / 100
Overall, I think I might enjoy the second episode more, but I will note that both episodes are EXTREMELY overlooked and definitely deserve more attention.

Writing / Story / Narrative: 15 / 20: Two people discuss the eponymous crash in great detail. Nicely written.

Entertainment / Humor: 14 / 20: I enjoyed the vibe, not so much the butcher joke.

Sound: 17 / 20: Very trippy, even that song.

Pacing / Runtime: 14 / 20: It's a little slow.

It's no Jack Stauber, but still interesting.

Thanks for the review! I agree with your critiques. If I'm being honest, I only really like the first establishing shots in this one. I think my last handful of animations are the only ones that I sort of think have a glimmer of what I'm trying to do. But I'm also probably way too self critical.

I like the clay designs, and it looks nice, but there are some bits that look tricky, such as whenever the duo are lying on the plant litter, the litter keeps shifting around on their own.

Writing / Story / Narrative: 17 / 20
It's two guys who keep eating beans and going on crazy shenanigans, in a car crash, in the trees.
And those are chick peas.

Entertainment / Humor: 18 / 20. I had just as much fun watching this as these two

Sound: 13 / 20: Great music, screaming was jarring.

Pacing / Runtime: 17 / 20: It's 4 minutes long, the remaining 2 and a half being behind the scenes footage added in the credits, along with a cool song.

TOTAL SCORE: 78 / 100
This was a blast, but not without its faults.

It doesn't look like your usual style and overall it just cheapens the whole production. They don't mesh well with the hand-drawn look you created. They really don't.
