[STAR DAY 2024 COLLAB]

Holy shit, how the fuck did I not know this 20th anniversary collab existed, much less one that started with a sizzle reel by Zekey.

Feels like it should've hooked me, but somehow it flew under my radar for half a year.

XD, and relatable.

One of the best parts about this is that credits + outro take up more than half the actual submission. That, and the way Coach was animated. Very expressive.

No music, no animation, it's just a basic leaf effect layered over a still drawing.

Although it's nice, if a bit simplistic, this whole thing could easily have been a loop on the Art Portal.

UPDATE: I've read your post. I'm glad you care about this stuff just as much as I do.

Given the limitations of IbisPaint you've described, it's clear it's is not meant for complete animations. You can easily use an external editing program to remedy this. (eg. video editors, file coverters, etc.)

Barely been a week since the last short was made. at least 30 in the last year alone.

Slapstick is nice, as are the character designs, but the overall presentation is on par with 9th grader's Flipaclip animation. It feels cheap, as if it took less than 2 days to make start to finish.

That doesn't mean it's an awful movie, or awful series. it's just means that as a standalone submission, the simplistic visuals, combined with an ultra-short production time and a thinly stretched runtime, means it's technically inferior compared to other similarly scored submissions (one example: the Sword Child series by kubernikus18)

You shouldn't need to be rushed to make these things. If anything, the quicker production time means you should be able to produce longer toons.
This and Healer could've easily been full movies from the start rather than broken up into 50 second parts.

You made a good first impression with that Deltarune Dragon's Lair animation, but this one has those unmistakable, typical DeviantArt vibes, which not a lot of people on this site are into. Just a heads up.

Although your employers wouldn't mind, for the sake of submitting this to Newgrounds, I have to give minus points for using Kevin MacLeod music, specifically "that one" which doesn't even fit.

Otherwise, great reel! A lot of high-profile stuff like with Yotta, Titmouse and such.
